| Did this with a number of SPers on a chilly and very windy day. Quick 14er with the trail open all the way to the summer gate and our choice to head straight up the side of the mountain. | |

| Car camped right below the gate and then hit the trail at 330am with about 10 friends. The trail can be misleading in the dark - there's mining roads all over the place. Topped-out right as the sun was rising. It was freezing cold and windy at the summit but a great experience. | |

| Straight forward climb, you can see the top from most of the trail. Just as scenic is the old mining ruins you pass along the way. The time enroute was quicker than published (2hrs actual) and we decided to traverse the ridge to Mt Sheridan, a 13er on the other hump. | |

| A more rugged hike than I remembered from my first climb 19 years earlier. A repeat for me, but my daughter's 14er finisher. A sunny if occasionally windy day. Lots of company, of course. About 7.5 hours overall, including a big summit celebration. | |
