On our way to Polemonium and the traverse to Thunderbolt (which we aborted at the U-notch due to bad weather).

North Couloir from the South Fork  Sucess!

Nice climb, and we didn't see any other parties on a very nice weather day. My opinion is the route doesn't deserve a Class 4 rating.

L-couloir via Elinore  Sucess!

With Phil and Paul. L-couloir is getting icy near top. It is not too much fun to backpack in to Elinore Lake. The "4th class" section is perhaps 15-25', and might be totally avoidable by going to left.

North Couloir  Sucess!

Really fun climb up the north couloir. We could have gotten by without a rope for the 4th class section, but it was good to have it. The views from the summit are as good as advertised.

winter day trip

Attempted north couloir day trip. Turned back above glacier notch when it started getting dark. Great views but very slow going over boulders and soft snow.

North Coulior

Good climb but turned back at the top of the Glacier Notch due to thunderstorms with blowing snow. Stay off the moraine, go left around it, horrible rock pile!

North Couloir  Sucess!

Day trip with Kurt Wedberg from SMI. Long outing with some of everything. Snow was in great shape, sun cups not too big and made for perfect steps. Rock was nice with some cool exposure. No wind, warm temps, no one on the route, and a awesome guide. Great day!

SW Chute   Sucess!

With Rob from Knapsack pass camp over to Potluck Pass. We both took chute #1(far left chute) - Rob stayed on the left of the snow and I was to the right. Traversed to Polemonium afterwards and down Polemonium glacier on the way back to camp.

N Couloir  Sucess!

Soft snow in the afternoon, got to witness a huge rockfall off of Galey. Big boulders gouged deep ruts in the glacier. Was not too excited to cross the fall zone on my way back to camp.
