Traverse: Blue Lakes up, Blaine Basin down.The Blue Lakes/Blaine Basin Sneffels traverse made for an excellent day. Recommended. Descent in to Blaine Basin from Lavender Col was straight forward: scree run followed by an extensive boulder-hopping segment. Easy enough to pick up the Blaine Basin trail at around tree line.

A monarchThis is one of my favorite mountains. It's a monarch on it's own range in San Juan Mountains, A great trip, ascended the Lavender Culoir and dislocated my shoulder in the V-Notch. The colors are awesome, really beautiful place.

Honeymoon PeakOur second peak on our honeymoon. My husband's 2nd 14K+ and my 9th. Threatened rain the whole morning and let loose on our descent. Never gotten that wet before. Cool climb though.

Nice views, crowded, I hate screeLeft lower trailhead at 7a.m. on a Saturday. The scree slopes were slow going. Had clear weather with no wind. Great views. Started down and encountered the crowds coming up. Yankee Boy Basin is beautiful, but too crowded.

Southwest RidgeA fun mountain. Got chased out by lightning, but at least the contrasts on the mountains made up for it. I would recommend this peak if your in the area.

SneffelsLate start but successful. Lavender col was very icy and deep with snow still. Microspikes were much needed throughout the lavender col and snake colour. Storm clouds at the summit meant no time for relaxation and headed back down within 5 minutes. A must do if you are in the area and up to the task!

America's Birthday!Climbed the crappy talus of the standard route and was hit in the ankle by a rock dislodged from above by a kid in sneakers. Just a bruise. Wear a helmet on this route! This is one of those climbs that can take almost as long going down as going up. Be careful.

my first 14erClimbed the standard route from the lower Yankee Boy TH with my buddy Danny. No snow present. Lots of people, including an unprepared football team we had to give water to. There was a glider doing close passes while we were on the summit. Also climbed the small peak to the east, Danny doing some 5th class on it for fun.

Tour de SneffelsStarted @ Dallas Creek, up Blue lakes and South Ridge, down standard route to saddle and then down the gorgious Blaine Basin. Very good route for this excellent peak. Don't be a wuss and drive up, you take away from the experience.

Lavender ColBluebird day, no one else around. Just a little snow- not enough to warrant crampons. My axe came in handy for snow in the V notch, though. This was a quick climb.
I wish the San Juan range was a lot closer to home.
