| Sneffels was the first 14er that I summited twice. Once by the standard route and once via the southwest ridge route. | |

| We started way up at 12460' which felt like cheating a little bit, so we decided to throw in "Kismet" and Cirque. Several hours on the talus and we decided to give it up. Gorgeous area, and I'll certainly be back for Teakettle and Gilpin! | |

| Driving up Yankee Boy Basin, we were stopped by a number of emergency vehicles ahead on the shelf road. At first, we thought it was search and rescue; then the coroner's vehicle pulled up behind. My understanding is that it was a fireworks-related incident from the night before, where a young man was running to get away from a lit fuse and fell off the shelf. As for the hike, we had large group that then split into three groups. I took the younger kids and we safely made it to about 13,400 ft. | |

| Beautiful drive up, nice wildflowers at the beginning of the hike. Great views from the top, especially of the Blue Lakes. Somewhat annoying scree climb, but overall awesome 14er. | |
