27 Peaks in 21 Days
It was snowing heavily when we started. Loose rocks, dense trees, white-out fog, what a joy! Our only hope to redeem the day was to see the petroglyphs, but alas, they were hidden under a new layer of snow. We did find them eventually though by clearing off the rocks. This was part of a 21 day hiking road-trip with Heather. Other peaks we did on this trip include:
Pinos, Sawmill, Aliso, Signal, Castle Dome, Ajo, Miller, Superstition BM, Turtle HP, Old Woman, Granite, Cinder Cone 3894', Avawatz, Pahrump, Pinto, Nelson HP, Panamint Butte, Canyon Point, Shadow, Grapevine, Wahguye, Palmer, Northshore, Black Mesa, Hamblin, and Little Virgin.
We also visited Heiroglyphic Canyon, Marble Canyon, Cottonwood Canyon, Sheep Spring Canyon, Cadiz Dunes, Mojave Lava Tube, Parowan Gap Dinosaur tracks and numerous pertroglyph sites.

DPS route
Very hazy summit views. Short dayhike thanks to Deb's 4wd pushing us closer to the TH. Sort of an obscure peak, heat was pressing down on us all day, drank 2 liters during the short outing. Locust-like big fat bugs were out in full force, buzzing in every small bush or tree. Interesting rocks in the area.

A Year Later
Rraine needed this peak, so we set off Sunday morning nearly a year after I climbed it the first time. We found a really nice route up the ridge south of the main drainage and followed a series of horse trails (wild horses abound in the area) up the ridge all the way to the summit. Very nice weather and good views. An easy peak, but I enjoyed way more than I did last year. The road in was in much worse shape than last year, but still passable. We parked just below 5800'.

Clouds Came In
The day before my 63rd birthday. A pretty nondescript climb. The petroglyphs at summit are the highlight of the trip. Clouds came in and blocked all the views from the top. On the way down there is a nice spire off to the right of the road that added interest. Pretty good holds from the back of it.

Alien-themed register box inside the DPS ammo can indicates the interest in studying the skies to the north of 95. Summited with Barry and Abby after using Beffort's Afoot and Afield guide for road instructions, along with this page. The petroglyphs are very nice and a special part of the hike.

DPS group climb
Successful summit by 13 members of Sierra Club's Desert Peak section, the day after we summited Hayford Peak.
We used the DPS guide. We started at the guide's 2WD starting point, but the road there is definitely now 4WD and high clearance. From there we accidentally walked too far up the 4wd dirt road and missed the NE ridge described in the DPS guide. Rather, we ended up going SW over one ridge point up to and over Pt 2311 Meters, then NE then SW up to the summit. This added some distance and time, but not too bad and all and all a pleasant route up. Brief tough brush only for 50 feet in the creek bed at the onset of the XC. Vegetation for the remainder of the ascent and descent required some thoughtful route picking and occasional ducking but was ok.
The summit itself was far superior to the windy, flat topped and antenna strewn higher neighbor the day before, Hayford Peak. Telescope, Sierras, Area 51 etc.
We descended to the northeast via the DPS route, seeing many petroglyphs on the rocks below the summit.

Third time was Nov 11, 2015. We had 1-2" fresh snow. which made it a bit slippery, but made the scenery delightful; very clear day Last sig in register was June 26/15 from Daria and Deb... I appreciate Deb's frankness, but June 26 for a desert peak... I'm not surprised it as hot and unenjoyable!
First was in Sept 2003. Made a loop over the summit down through thick pinyons to E.
The higher, detached ridge to SE is much tougher.

Awesome, clear weather, with views of the Sierra Nevada and White Mountains. Detoured to Peak 7943 (topo shows 2421m) on the way up.

Mt. Stirling from the north
Easy hike with a good group of friends. Excellent views of the Sierra Nevada to the west. Also some decent crags to explore and climb around on below the summit, for those interested.
