Mount Sublette from Sublette Peak

Mount Sublette from Sublette Peak

Probably the most impressive sight from the peak, this mountain is along the Continental Divide. Some have compared it to the Dolomites in appearance. Others have asked about climbing the cliffs. The cliffs are rarely climbed, if ever at all, because the rock is rotten and cannot be trusted if you want to protect your climb. Absaroka Range, Wyoming-- July 2009

Nice photo. As far as rock quality, then if would be just like climbing in the San Juans. Hell I wouldn't know what to do with good solid granite.

...and much of the Elks.

Who needs boring old granite, anyway? That's for soft people!

Thanks Bob for posting that view. I have only seen that view once from Sublette Peak, but the summit of Mt Sublette( or Brooks Mtn ) has always been one of my favorite places. I have sat upon that peak looking down on Sublette peak many times, and always been inspired by it. It is a magnificent area, and your pages and photos from the Togwotee area have done it justice.

Re: layer cake

Thanks, Mike. I appreciate that. I'm working on some things for the Pinnacle Buttes now, and I hope you'll like them, too.
