| Tagged Mount Sunflower on the way out of Kansas - after living there for a year. It (the state) was nice, but flat! The HP - it was quite nice, and also flat. | ||

| We decided to drive all of the way back to Wisconsin after climbing Black Mesa in Oklahoma so we hit Mt. Sunflower at 10:30 at night. Took some pictures and signed the register. Drove on to Panorama Point in Nebraska. I will always wonder what the view is like from this highpoint. HP #41. | ||

| Climbed into the "Thick Air" of Kansas the day after Elbert. Quite the scenery change for my 2nd Highpoint, but still fun in it's own way. | ||

| Second highpoint with kids, even brought hubby along this time :-) Far different experience from Guadalupe Peak! Missed the challenge, but enjoyed reading the log and notes from owners. Moved on to Colorado, lots of snow - can't wait for Mt. Elbert next year! | ||

| Castlereagh | Detour off I-70 ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 15, 2008 | |
| Stopped by on the way out west. Rough dirt roads leading there. Views are pretty good at the summit. A herd of cattle joined me on the summit. | ||

| Flew into Denver and rented a car with Zscapes for 2 days of highpointing. We visited Mt Sunflower on Sept 27th and Black Mesa on Sept 28th. We had perfect weather and both "summits" to ourselves. | ||

| McCannster | WTF??? ![]() Date Climbed: Sep 14, 2008 | |
| Yup, solo trip out here to Podunk. I left Boulder at 8am with my bud's car on loan and drove all the way out there by my lonesome. No trouble finding the mighty peak, spent about 45 mins on top, then did a backflip off of one of the dead tree stumps, a la my trip to Panorama Point. Highpoint #3! Returned to Boulder at 4pm. Paying for gas was kind of a bitch, but hey, "live a little!" | ||

| New meaning to the term "drive-up". Neat display at the site. My GPS put us on a shortcut there, but we ended up traveling down a lot of dirt roads. Be prepared to seriously tickle your car's underbelly on the dirt roads in the area. No stores are nearby so gas/food/water up before. | ||

| Definitely whimsical. It was spooky driving back to I70 after dark (especially after driving through a big mud puddle - ugh). | ||

| dwhike | All Alone... ![]() Date Climbed: Jun 28, 2008 | |
| First trip out to the high plains and couldn't help but being struck by how alone we were out there. Just rolling fields in all directions...a strange beauty about it. Loved it! | ||

| You park and walk the last 50 yards. An odd, barren place but nice as it was at sunset. Spitting distance from the Colorado Border. | ||

| At the request of my friend Karen, I have to log my mighty Mt Sunflower ascent. My wife and I did this one on the way back from my graduation from grad school at Regis Univ in Denver. This was at the time our home state and the trip spawned our move to CO! Nice sunflower made out of railroad spikes and a register to boot. This is one of the funner ones in the Midwest. | ||

| State highpoint #3... out of pure respect for our state highpointer friend Kevin (as well as curiousness about why he does this), we veered off of I-70 at the border, stopped at a farmer's house to ask how to get there, and away we went! "Bluebird day" for this "silly" yet intriguing and fun "summit." :-) | ||
