Drove up and took the summit trail with my wife and 3 year old son.
The little guy scampered up the rocks like a marmot, collecting his
2nd cohp. fun day out with nice views. Only 49 more high points to complete CA. I'll be like 70.

I've been using Mt. Tam as a training ground for a few years now and have hiked it via the Dipsea Trail, the south face trail, railroad grade, and via a probably unknown/abandoned trail starting at Cascade Dam; this route is probably the most direct on the mountain, but it was a minor bush-whack the time I did it.

Descended via Rock Spring-Lagunitas. Amazingly, this is the only time I have ever hiked this Bay Area icon. I live too far south.

...and Ridgecrest Blvd. was closed 2.5 miles from the East Peak parking lot, so we braved the hazardous conditions and made our summit bid of the highpoint of Marin County on foot. We were the only ones on the summit and only saw about 4 or 5 other people on the road.

Very nice climb. Took my buddy and I about 3 hours to reach the top from Pantoll(we took our time). only bad part was the first sound we heard when we got to the summit was a baby crying. But the views of the city and the bay was worth it.

started at pantoll hiked up to the mountain theater-very cool- continued on the rock spring trail to the fire road to the parking lot and up the boardwalk. nice views. not to crowded on trails. hike down was nice. small redwood groves and pleasent weather. traffic down was crowded but what do you expect on a sunny bay area day
