Drove up to New Hampshire from Pennsylvania to finish the 4k peaks. This one was one of my last.

Tecumseh Trail from Ski Area
Started off the day with the Tripyramid loop. Felt good and still had a few hours of sunlight left so headed over to Tecumseh. Nice hike up the trail, but not much of a view. Decided to take the Sosman trail over to the top of the ski area and descnded the ski slopes. Great view from there. Very interesting to see the ski area without snow as I ski it occasionally in the winter.
Let me preface this by saying every single hike I have taken this summer I have gotten rained on. I am a perfect 6 for 6.
That said it was still a very nice hike. I was hiking with my mom so I needed something relatively easy. We hiked up from the Tripoli Road side which was much more secluded than the ski area side. It was raining pretty heavily as we crested the knoll before the summit and we couldn't see the true summit. The trail appeared to go down on all sides from there and we almost turned around. We finally decided to keep going in case it wasn't the summit. We were happy to find out that it wasn't and by the time we got to the true summit it had stopped raining and the clouds had lifted enough to have a view into the valley. Overall good hike, suitable for children and families.
Nice winter hike. Lost my dog for about two hours.

Never again
Nothing like pushing ourselves to the max for our first day out of the season. We started the day with the Osceolas and then hit Tecumseh from Tripoli Road. Endless hike up Tecumseh. Just enough of a grade to tell we were going up and just enough to be mildly annoying. Ha ha. When we reached the knob before the summit we thought we were done. Then we kept going and saw the trail head up fairly steeply with a lot of snow and ice. We descended via the ski trails, which was a pain, but we needed to get down faster than dealing with the snow and ice on the trail. My boyfriend and I swear that we'll never summit it again now that it's off of our NE4000 list. The elevation is deceiving.

My dad and I missed the river crossing and had to hike up one of the closed ski trails, we eventually got back on the tecumseh trail. There is a good view on the Sosman Trail heading over to the top of the ski hill.

Waterville Valley Parking Lot to the summit and back. A good day hike, very packed trail - no snowshoes needed. Though there were certainly parts of the trail that crampons would be a help. We wished we had a sled on the way down.

Route Climbed: Tecumseh Trail from Tripoli Rd. Date Climbed: Nov. 20, 2004Mid-40s and overcast, but dead calm. Icy on top, crampons helpful. This would be a nice family hike in season--easy climb, but not much on the views.
