My 1st of all the 4,000'ers

This was my 1st mountain. Now I have completed the NE 111 and the 50 USA state highpoints (It only took me 31 years).

Beautiful winter ascent  Sucess!

This was one of those super unusually beautiful days on Mount Washington. there was not a single cloud in the sky and probably 100 plus mile visibility. we followed the lions head winter route and there were many teams on the mountain. all in all a great experience. next year were shooting for the Huntington ravine side, maybe pinnacle gully.

Winter Ascent via Odell's  Sucess!

Poor ice conditions led to the melting out of a screw. Weather was beautiful and the rest of the ascent was uneventful.

Climbed up Central Gully during a bright sunny day, with the odd cloud blowing by. Descended via Lion's Head winter route. Great intro climb

Via Lion's Head in Winter  Sucess!

Terrible weather indeed!

Summited in total whiteout conditions, with winds gusting up to 100mph. Worth it, though.

Finally!  Sucess!

Climbed this baby in winter, for me the only time to go for Washington. First because of the lack of tourists with motor vehicles and second for the ability to walk on the snow instead of the trillion boulders and rocks one has to walk on in the summer.

When we summited, the official temperature was -7 (F) with 23 MPH winds making the wind chill a balmy -30. The only factor that allowed us to summit in these conditions was the generous amount of sunshine combined with our winter hiking experience and proper collection and use of gear.

We took the Lions Head Winter route and it was gorgeous! We had the summit to ourselves.

I truly did not think I could endure such conditions but we did it! and enjoyed it the entire time.

up Tuckermann and around the Great Gulf  Sucess!

Big block of a mountain, but hazy views when I was atop. Rocky trails will take their toll at day's end too! ;-]

Class 0 route  Sucess!

Drove to the top with my girlfriend via the auto road. Had plans/hut reservations to snow climb via Tuckerman Ravine (IIRC) the following Jan, but the weather was 50F that weekend and we bailed. Moved to CA the following summer and haven't had a chance to go back yet...

4th State HP  Sucess!

Definitely underestimated the Great Gulf Trail. Began around 9am and didn't summit until late afternoon. We hitchhiked down the mountain rather than climbing down in darkness! Weather was great, low 50s.

Windy Day

First but not last time up Washington was most likely the best time Ill have, once reaching the top there were wind gusts close to 100 giving the opportunity to lean back in to the wind and having it hold you up at a 30 degree angle.
