Handicapable route  Sucess!

Took on the West Peak today with the Bellingham Mountaineers as part of our Basic climb course requirements. Party of 5 total, two pitches (one full 60m, one half) on low level class 5 technical rock that finished in a slab. Two full 70m rope repels off a veggie belay section of trees central to the saddle near the summit. Back up and out to Anderson Lakes for a dip before hiking out. Hot and hazy all day, dry as a bone (only water source was snow holding to upper reaches of the peak). Per all my climbs this year, AFO leg brace in full working action and getting challenged hard

Watson via south gully  Sucess!

Didnt like the look of the glacier on the north side so wrapped back up and around to the south side and used a gully to access the summit block. Great area but low clouds obscured our views. May have to revisit on clear day.

Great Day Trip  Sucess!

Great day outing. Late season caused us some shenanigans getting through the moat.

One outta two  Sucess!

Started off the climb with Karl, Steve and Steve's two sons. After getting up the climber's path to the snow fields/glacier under Watson, 3 turned back with equipment issues. Karl and I continued up the snow in the col between the west and middle summits into a moat to the ridge. Then we found a back way (some exposed 3rd class)to get to the summit. After getting back down to where we left our packs below the snow finger in the col, we headed off to do Bacon. Took a lot longer to find our way over 4th class veggie belays (4 of my most unfavorite words) to a camp above the valley to Bacon but storms blew in overnight and we bugged out after lightning and thunder came in. Recommend the bacon cheeseburger and Seasonal Red Ale at the Birdview Brewery on your way out of this area. :-)

Perfect  Sucess!

Ascended via the normal route with Gimpilator under perfect conditions. A great trip!
Went back on 7-11-12 with friends and got the East Summit along with the West in an effort to make sure we had the correct peak. The West Peak is a funner climb on the smooth E Face, the scramble up the ridge to the East Peak is also pleasant.

Anderson Watson Duo  Sucess!

Since I'm an Anderson, and my grandparents are Watsons, a climb of both in this area was a natural! My daughter and I spent the night alone at one of the more remote Anderson Lakes, before doing the Watson climb.

Route Climbed: Anderson Lakes - East Ridge Date Climbed: August 1982  Sucess!

Duane and I did this one as part of a family backpack trip to Anderson Lakes. The party included our wives, Duane's two boys, and my daughter and son. The kids ranged in age from 3 to 6. They all carried small packs, but of course neither they nor their mothers accompanied us on Mt. Watson. This climb marked the beginning of a long and still continuing series of mountaineering adventures for Duane and me.
