Re: this is one place...

I've climbed Mt. Whitney 53 times, and never tired of going back. It's one of the most Alpine looking regions of the Sierras.
Happy climbing,
Marc

Re: What a view!

It's taken from an area called Alabama Hills on the foothills of Mount Whitney.
Happy climbing,

It makes me want to

leave the house,
Put on my boots and grab my spouse.
This is one hell of a mountain,
But it deserves our respect,
So guess I'll quit shoutin'.

Re: It makes me want to

Hi Larry,
I have no doubt you get out of the house at least once a day. All you have to do, this time, is to get in your car and head for Lone Pine and start the hike. I was telling someone that I have climbed Mt. Whitney 53 times, and I probably will do it another 10 without getting bored with it. When I go to this area I always have to at least stop and look at the majesty of the entire massif.
Thanks for dropping by Larry,
Happy climbing,
Marc

Re: Wow!

Only 53 times, with many of those in one day to the top and back. Call me crazy but I love this mountain. I recommend doing it off season, like Mar-Apr,to avoid crowds.
Thanks for dropping by and the vote,
Happy climbing,
Marc

What approach do

you like the best:
(1)from the Sequoia NP side?
(2)from the Lone Pine side?

Early October is a great time to go, if you
can withstand the wind coming in from the north. Have an enjoyable day, Marc!!

Re: What approach do

Definitely from Lone Pine. And the north wind happens only when a storm is coming from the north, otherwise it's from the west.
Thanks for dropping by Larry,
Marc

Great shot!

Nice framing, and a classic shot of a grand place. Nice photo collection in your gallery.

Re: Great shot!

Thank you so much for dropping by.
I did have to look around for the spot, but I'm sure there are better places to be found later. That's what makes it fun.

Happy climbing,
Marc

Going Back

No wonder you keep going back, Marc. I've just caught myself getting back to this photo, and this is what I normally do a dozen times while returning from a hike - stop again and look back one last time, which soon turns out the 2nd last, the 3rd last, the...
I wish you a hundred happy returns Marc,
