Pioneer Park  Sucess!

Quick trip up from Pioneer park with my wife and son today. Great work out as this route seems considerably steeper than George's Hollow. Last 3/4 of the route was still under soft & slushy snow. Beautiful day around 60 degrees, but windy and cold on top. Great hike!

Go Utes!

Cold Trip Up  Sucess!

First time up; cool winter day--trail intermittent after snow storm, winds 40-50 mph on top. 1 hour 32 minutes up, 1 hour 10 minutes down. Pretty darn steep after the Bonneville shoreline trail. I must've taken the wrong route; this definitely isn't the tomato can everyone advertises...

Snowy  Sucess!

Climbed this in heavy snow and rain. Lots of fun. No view at the top due to poor visibility; guess I'll have to come back!

Climbed the Tower  Sucess!

Fall colors starting to show! Great short hike. It was fun but a little scary to climb the rickety tower. Hiked via George's Hollow.

2nd Ascent - Trail Run up George's Hollow on Thanksgiving, 11/28/13. Saw hang gliders taking off, ran along the ridge.

Route: George's Hollow

Climbed this morning with my 12 year old son Liam. Great morning with perfect weather. Ran in to crusty hardpack snow and the base of the first false summit. but nothing too bad. Spent an hour on the summit enjoying the sunshine and the handfull of other hikers that came and went. Climbed the tower too which was by far the scariest part of the day as I am terrified of heights. Celebrated the successful climb with lunch at the Pie. Very glad we made the drive from Ogden to hike this great mountain. Can't wait to get some more!

GO UTES!!!

Short and steep  Sucess!

I hiked this in the afternoon, pretty cool little hike, and a good workout. I hit snow for the last third of the hike. It was too cloudy to have any views.

Georges Hollow  Sucess!

I've done it several times in fall and winter in all kinds of weather. Seen lots of deer and a young bull moose in the area. My opinion: not a very interesting hike relative to all the other possibilities in the Wasatch. Its popularity must be because of its sheer ease and proximity to downtown SLC.

My treadmill  Sucess!

Mt. Wire has become a regular part of my training routine. It is a perfect way to get in over 2K in elevation gain in under an hour and it is so convenient and accessible. I have climbed it in all seasons and conditions. I have enjoyed peaceful sunrises and sunsets as well as raging storms. I’ve had several incredible wildlife encounters, including a herd of elk running a few yards ahead of us as we ran down from the summit and a close call with a rattler. I spent almost an entire day in Nov 2010 on this mountain with some great friends bagging the summit 5 times. This is a perfect training hike/climb/run for all seasons.

Fastest time up: 39 minutes.
Total summits: 61
