Hello all hikers! When on this road (549) drive very slow once the road starts to climb the mountain the road gets a bit rockier. May not look like much of a threat, but the rocks are jagged.
This entire road has many chunky rocks that have stabbed through many tires. I have witnessed 3 tires myself in a matter of 4 hours. One of them was a Lexus (without a spare) and the other was an SUV, those people blew out a tire, changed it and 20 minutes later blew out the other tire. The rocks are dangerous.
