Straight up from Grandjean road with no snow shoes until 8000 ft. Saw some type of tower (weather station?). Saw a Golden Eagle and deer. Per "History of the Boise National Forest 1905-1976" it is named after General Zumwalt, as the page says. Zumwalt's grave is near Graham.
This was a great ski trip, even though it was late in the season. The lower part of the route was melted out, but the road was not (snowmo packed). Good powder up high!
