Overview
Jura mountains are located at the Swiss-French border and they stretch between Geneva and Basle.
The Crêt de la Neige (Snow Crest) is the highest summit of the Jura. Like its neighbour Le Reculet, it offers a splendid view of Geneva, the Lake of Geneva and the Alps with the Mont-Blanc massif.
There is a ski ressort, the Crozet/Lelex, on the SE/NW slopes. Therefore a cable car can bring you to the main Jura crest, at 1200m. In summer this cable car and its associated ski-run are equiped for mountain bikes.
The normal route starts from the Crozet station (640m), and follows the cable car until the main Jura crest path. Then you follow this ridge (SW direction) until the summit. It is a 1080m height walk-up.
If you do not like to walk amongst ski-runs and snow-making machines, a nice alternative is to go via Le Reculet and the Thoiry Forest which is a nature reserve. From le Reculet just follow the crest (NE direction) until the summit.
Stages are: Tiocan/le Rozet, Le Reculet, the Curson chalet, Crêt de la Neige
See map and Le Reculet page.
Because the Jura Mountains are limestone rock, you will not find any water on the trail. Do not forget to bring some beverage with you.
