Weather reports

Overview

A fantastic winter climbing mountain in the heart of the Lake District.
Grades are all in the low to mid grade range.
Comes into condition quickly and remains so for longer than most mountains in England

Getting There

Approach from Wasdale Head , Borrowdale (Stonethwhaite) or Langdale via Esk Hause.
Wasdale slightly shorter and Langdale being the longer approach.

When To Climb

Easy, just a walk to the summit at any time of the year en route to Scafell Pike.
Great End is really a winter climbing crag and has no summer routes that are recognised as classics.
Wait for a good cold period of sub zero temperatures

Camping

Wild camping around Sty Head Tarn
Campsites in Wasdale (National Trust) and in Borrowdale
