OverviewSharing the same name of the Biblical summit from which Moses sighted the Promised Land, rising from the eastern shoreline of Lake Willoughby Mount Pisgah provides excellent views of the fjord-like lake and it's partner mountain Mt. Hor. Carved by glaciers centuries ago, Mount Pisgah's greatest characteristic is it's sheer face plunging into Lake Willoughby. The cliffs have been designated a National Natural Landmark
Located in Willougby State Forest in Vermont's Northeast Kingdom Pisgah provides multiple outdoor opportunities including hiking, snowshoeing, cross-country skiing and class VI ice climbing . with 600 feet of vertical climbing available
Three marked trails all lead to the summit of Mt. Pisgah, all of which should be considered walk-ups.
Getting ThereAll of the trailheads leading to Mt. Pisgah are will marked with designated parking areas.
To reach any of the 3 main trails on Mount Pisgah from the south take VT 5A in West Burke and travel approximately 5.7 miles to reach the South Trail. The North Trail can be reached by continuing on 5A for about 2 more miles on the east side of the Lake Willoughby. The third trail (Long Pond - Pisgah Trail) can be reached by taking Long Pond Rd east from Rte 5A for approximately 1 mile, parking will be on the right.
If coming from the north take 5A south from the junction of VT 16 and VT 5A, with Long Pond Rd being the first opportunity to gaina trail.

When To ClimbAll Year Round
CampingCamping in Vermont can be done on any public lands, as long as you are below 2500'. Formal camping facilities including tent, RV and cabin rentals are located at the southern end of Lake Willoughby at White Caps Campground .
Tent sites are $17/ night
