Overview

Montaña Blanca is situated East of Pico del Teide and is lying in Parque Nacional de las Cañadas del Teide, on the trail to the starting point of the Teide climb. With it’s height of 2750 meters, it’s nothing more than a very easy walk up, but for lots of Teide climbers it’s a acclimatise trip.
Montaña Blanca isn’t a spectacular mountain but for a complete impression of this area and for those who want to see the hugh rise of the Teide from Montaña Blanca’s summit, this mountain is a good start for going to this area.

Getting There

From wherever you are starting, “National Parque del Teide” signs can be

followed from all places of the Isle of Tenerife. Starting point is a couple of kilometres (3) east of the cable car station (teleferico) at a very little car park at the C-821 where hugh signs show you the trail to the summit.

Route

Startingpoint is at 2350 meters from where a broad trail brings you to the startingpoint of the Teide climb. Follow the little green markers Sendero 7. From there, go left and keep on following the trail. At the bifurcation, choose left or right and round the summit.
You can also follow small trails which aren’t good visual, but once found, these tracks gives you more fun reaching the summit than the main trail which isn’t more than a easy walk up.
Info by rafa bartolome: it's more fun but it's forbidden to leave the foodpath and walk at the lava and out of the paths of the natural park! (the rangers go with the car some days in the track to Montaña Blanca)

When To Climb

During the winter months the weather can be pretty spooky. It isn’t strange to meet snowy roads up to Las Cañadas. The conditions can be very misty but staying on the main track, lose one’s way will not happen. In the summer months, bring water water with you!

Where to stay

There is no camping site because it’s a National Park. There is a Parador Hotel where you can stay to acclimatise. If you have a car you can stay at the whole island.
Email Parador Hotel: Canadas@parador.es

Red Tape

No permits required, but if you are climbing further to Teide summit, get yourself a permit for the last 200 meters.
