OverviewCarpenter Peak provides the best views from Roxborough State Park with nice views of the foothills and canyons to the west, the Denver skyline and the famous rock formations that made this area a Colorado Natural Area and a National Natural Landmark.

A vertical gain of about 1,000 feet over a 7 mile round-trip makes for a great workout. In good weather the trail is a fairly easy walk-up although the park brochure labels it as moderately strenuous.
Getting ThereHead south on Santa Fe / Highway 85 from C-470 or northwest on Santa Fe / Highway 85 from Castle Rock. Turn west on Titan Parkway and look for Park signs. Following the signs from here will direct you to Roxborough State Park. At the park entrance you will get a park brochure showing the location of the Carpenter Peak trailhead.

The center attraction of the park is the rock formations!
Miscellaneous InfoRed TapeYou must have a valid Colorado State Park Pass or pay for a daily park pass ($6 as of 2008). The park is open to day use only and hours fluctuate with the seasons. Hours can be found at the Roxborough State Park website or by contacting the park directly at 1-303-973-3959.
Unfortunately, the park brochure clearly states that rock climbing is prohibited.
When To ClimbRoxborough State Park is open year round. The Carpenter Peak trail can be quite icy or snow packed during snow season. Contact the park for the latest trail conditions at 1-303-973-3959.
CampingRoxborough State Park is open to day use only.
