Overview

Cactus Flower Tower is the little brother of Mt. Wilson. It stands just to the north of Mt. Wilson. It's an awesome summit with the easiest route having a small section of class 5 rock. This is one of the more difficult summits in Red Rock Canyon. The mountain is known for its rock climbing routes.
Climbing and route finding skills are needed to reach the summit.

Getting There

From Vegas take Charleston Blvd. to Red Rock Canyon (less than 15 miles depending where you turn onto Charleston
Drive the Scenic Loop Road 12 miles to the signed turnoff for Oak Creek Canyon. Drive 0.7 mile and park at the trailhead.
Alternatively you can continue on Charleston Blvd. (State Route 159) pass the turnoff for Red Rock about three miles and park at the old campground (no longer in use). This results in a longer approach, but shorter drive and no fees.

Red Tape

Access to any trailhead via the Scenic Loop Road cost $5.00 per visit or $20 for a yearly pass. Cars park at any trailheads via the Scemic Loop are subject to a $50 fine if still there after the park closes. From April through October the park closes at 8 p.m. During March the park closes at 7 p.m. All other months the park closes at 5 p.m.

Camping

Yes, at the 13 mile campground. From the intersection of 215 and Charleston Blvd. drive 3.3 miles and turn left onto Moenkopi Road. Camping is $10 per night. You will still have to buy the Red Rock pass ($5.00 per car or $20 for a yearly pass). You can camp for free above the 5,000 foot level, though you need a back country permit. Call 515-5350 for permits.
