From Balakot jeeps are easily available till trail point Biari or any other place in kaghan valley. Some famous towns are Kawai, Shogran, Paras, Siri Paya, Mahandri, Kaghan and Naran. From Mahandri a path leads up to Biari 3 hrs by jeep where there is last Forest Rest house Government. The jeepable road ends here and from here you have trust your feet only. After 3 hrs walk form a place called Dher steep climb to the ridge starts and it takes about 4 more hrs.

A Guide is very important on this path as it completely isolated in the wilderness and there is hardly any local village. After reaching the ridge you get the first view of majestic Anso Lake. Anso Lake means ( Tear Lake ) as it is the shape of a tear drop. It very famous in the area but very difficult to acess as it is situated at the top of the ridge parallel to Mahlika Parbat at 13,500 ft. Just infront you can see the huge majestic rock standing infront of you The Mahlika Parbat. The path requires one night stay in camp from Biari side and 6 hrs on horses or mules from Saiful muluk side with a very steep climb. The route is open only from may to August in summer.
After crossing the ridge you enter into other valley and get view of Mahlika Parbat standing infront of you. After 2 hr of walking down one reaches at the base the magestic mountain. From there another 2 hrs take you to the most the famous Lake Saif ul Muluk of Kaghan Valley The legend exists that fairies land at this lake on full moon night. It is accessible from Naran by jeepable track of about 2 hr or 8 hrs walk. Naran is a small town on fully metalled road that goes through kaghan valley.
