Overview
Nanos is a karstic plateau over 1.000 m high northern from Vipava valley, with basic ride in direction east-west. The major summit “Plesa” is on east edge of plateau, with quite steep slope to the village Razdrto, from where is also a most common path to the summit.
Nanos is part of high karstic plateaus of Slovenia, in mountain group: Trnovski gozd Group.
The ridge is partly covered with woods, major beech tree, but You can find also a pine tree. Also the flowers on the ridge are some kind of richness on the plateau, but the visitors are asked only to see this flower, not to take away: the flowers are most beautiful in domestic’s surroundings.
Because of a very nice view from the summit this is very popular point for the locals, as also for other climbers. Nearly the summit Plesa is hut “Vojkova koca “, in a year they have about 30.000 visitors.
Getting There
Very nearly is a highway from Ljubljana to Koper. In Razdrto are also crossroads to Gorica (Ajdovscina). Distance to Ljubljana and Gorica about 60km, a little less to Koper.
It is possible to get there also with a car (from Podnanos, village in Vipava valley), last few kilometers only on macadam road.

Because of popularity of Nanos they called him also a “Primorski Triglav” – seaside Triglav (Triglav is the highest summit of Slovenia). For locals this mountain has also some magic significance, some kind as a holy mountain of seaside region. Images
