Overview

Crvanj mountain is located in south-east part of Bosnia and Herzegovina, sorrounded by Nevesinjsko polje from the south and Neretva River from the north and north-east. The highest summit of Crvanj is called Zimomor(meannigs the hill of winter sunset)with altitude 1920 m above sea level. Northern and N-E side of the mountain are under beech forests.

Getting There

There are many aproaches to the Crvanj. This is a mountain with easy ascent frome any direction, but the best aproach to highest summit Zimomor is from South side, from Nevesinjsko Polje.
Mostar approach: drive from Mostar to Nevesinje (36 km) and in Nevesinje turn left to village called Luka, follow road trough Nevesinjsko polje about 20 min. and turn right to village called Krusevljani. This is ideal point to start route to any part of the Crvanj. From Krusevljani Zimomor can be easily identified, and I suggest to ask local people about shortest route to the summit.
Sarajevo approach: drive from Sarajevo trough Kalinovik to Ulog (on Neretva river) by 83 km (last 5 km is local, McAdam type road.
From Ulog follow road to Nevesinje and turn right to Crvanjsko Jezero. Crvanjsko jezero is small lake near village Jezero, and ask local people about shostest route.

Red Tape

Crvanj is completely mine free, except some areas deep into Neretva river valley.

Camping

There is no organized camping facilities. The mountain is complete wild and untouched (except cutting of beech woods from NE side during 20th century).
Springs are very rare, and we recommend to bring enough water for hiking.
