OverviewJust a stub page, adopt it from me if you have more info
The Roßstein is a rocky summit which along with it's neighbor the Buchstein, bookends the charming Tegernseer Hütte in a dramatic position. The summit has a easy klettersteig (protected scrambling way) with terrific views down to the Sonnenberg Alm. There are also several rock climbs on the peak and a little "climbing garden," easily reached from partway up the klettersteig. Unlike it's neighbor the Buchstein, Roßstein is easily hiked on trail in 10 minutes from the Tegernseer Hütte.Getting ThereFrom Tegernsee travel south on the main road to Kreuth. Continue south, and the road turns west (signed B307), and you come to a parking lot called Bayerwald south of the summit.
Hike up the steep trail, which finally emerges from the trees at a small meadow. Climb over Roßstein via a small klettersteig or around the peak on easier trail, following signs to Tegernseer Hütte. Now walk an easy 10 minutes (or less) to the summit on ridge-top trail.
Red TapeNo red tape. The parking lot at Bayerwald is free.
CampingProbably not allowed. Stay in the hut or be irreverent and bivouac on the Buchstein summit.External Links* The Tegernseer Hütte - serves food and has overnight accomodation. Maybe a great place to take the family.
