Overview South wall, lake and refuge The Cima d'Asta massif is situated at the center of the most extended inhabited zone of the Trentino. It is a part of the
Lagorai
Group, an west-east long chain that extends itself from Cima Panarotta top until Passo Rolle pass
for a total lenght approximately 50 Km. It separates the Val di Fiemme
valley (at north) from the Valsugana valley (at south). At west the border is
the Val dei Mocheni valley, at east the Passo Rolle pass.
It occupies the southern part of the great group of the Lagorai of which
it constitutes a geographical subgroup (geologically
different because made of
granite and not of porphyr) and from which it is separated
and at the same time joined by two valleys: the Val
Campelle valley toward west and the Val Cia valley toward east.
Normally the entire zone is also called
“group of Lagorai-Cima d' Asta” in order to emphasize the
geographic-territorial unit of the area to whose inside is placed the massif of
Cima d'Asta. But the massif is itself distinguished in the subgroups of Cima
Tolvà and
Cimon Rava and therefore some author prefers to consider it
like being group to himself. In every case from its main top (m. 2847) a 360°
wide panorama is enjoyed.

Aeroporto di Bolzano.Hiking normal route At north of the country of Pieve
Tesino it begins the asphalted road of the Val Malene valley that penetrates in the subgroup of Cima d'Asta and is furrowed from the Grigno creek.
After ten kilometers there is Malga Sorgazza alpine barn (m. 1.450 - opened in the
summery period with restaurant service and parking). From here it begins the
distance on foot, that we divide into two parts:
• first part (Sorgazza mountain
barn - Ottone Brentari refuge): from mountain barn Sorgazza (m. 1.450), to
follow the forest road along the path path SAT 327 along the large forest road.
Leaving on the right the path
SAT 386,
and reaching so the locality “pont
Brusà” (m. 1.647) with cableway of service to the Ottone Brentari refuge. Here
to
choose path SAT 327 that laughed them with numerous carried the walloon
called locally “bualòn” until altitude 2,000 meters where coming from Forcella
Magna path SAT 326. To continue along
SAT 327 until the rests of the
old mountain hut "del Pastore" (m. 2.131). Here it is possible to choose if to
continue along SAT 327 (steeper) or to opt for the varying SAT 327b (less steep).
If it is continued for
SAT 327 it is necessary to
gain the not dangerous but
steep plates in granite that they carry directly to the Lago di Cima d'Asta lake
(m. 2.451) that is situated beside the refuge
Ottone Brentari (m. 2.476). The varying SAT 327b
completes a turn on the right in order to go around the plates, but the time
does not change: 3,00 hours - unevenness 1,040 meters.

• second part (Ottone
Brentari refuge - East normal route): from the refuge to follow path SAT 364
that goes around to east the small lake and goes up until catching up the deep
saddleback (“Forzeleta”, m. 2.680) situated in the east crest. From the
saddleback, the path turns to NW (left for who goes up) and then comes down for
80-100 meters until the sinking "Conca Lastè dei Fiori" . Here you abandon the path
SAT 364 that comes down in the Vallon di Cima d' Asta.
By a marked path, left to right and low the Passo dei Diavoli (=Step of the
Devils) is continued along the slope till the the cross of summit at m.
2847 (from the shelter hours 1.15-1.30 - unevenness 375 meters+80 meters in
reduction = 454 meters). Some meters to NW of the cross is found, more low, the
bivouac Giuseppe Cavinato
(m. 2840). • Note: if the distance comes
completed in a single day, the total unevenness in climb Malga Sorgazza-Cima d'
Asta is 1.480 meters approximately.

• prima parte (Malga Sorgazza -
• seconda parte (Rifugio Ottone
dislivello 375 meters+80 meters in discesa = 454 meters). Qualche metro a

Pano toward north | Red tape• When to climb: only during
summer or fall because the snow presence reserves this way to expert and
equipped mountaineer skiing only.
• The route here described is not
difficult and it does not demand technical equipments, but warm
dressed are raccomanded because of the possible changes of the weather. In
case of rain pay attention on the plates of granite under the refuge expecially
coming down.
• The coming from Pieve Tesino
road continues like dirt road also beyond the locality Malga Sorgazza, but
its access with private motor vehicles is prohibited.
• After the refuge, to carry with
himself one water bottle: for the first time during 2006 summer no snow
remains in Lastè dei Fiori: a sign of the progressive withdrawal of the ice in
the alpine arc.
