Overview

Topica is a 1.649m high mountain in the Karawanken region, Eastern Alps. The origin of the name Topica/Topitza is the Slovenian word 'top' which means flat or blunt in English. It is in the community of Eisenkappel-Vellach (555m high), on the border to Slovenia.
To get there you can take the way from the town of Eisenkappel at 555m which leads to 'Berghof Brunner' (hotel) and some farms up to the summit of Ojstra. From Ojstra you go down on the way number 671 until it splits and you take the left way (number 641). On the way you pass the Seca hut (private). It takes about 4h to get to the summit of Topitza via the Ojstra summit.

You can also start from the Woegl farm at about 1.100m. You have to drive up from Eisenkappel through the Lobnig valley for about 8km. From the farm you take the way number 671 and after about 15 minutes you take the right way to Topica. From W?it takes about 1.15 hours to walk to the summit.

Another way starts in the Leppen valley at Riepl/Luscha, 1.270 m. There you take way number 641 up to the summit which takes about 1.15 hours. It is also possible to go there with skies in winter.
From Riepl/Luscha you can also extend your trip and go to Feistritzer Spitz/Bistriska spica (Petzen/Peca), 2114m. It takes about 3 hours to reach the summit.
