Overview

Becca di Seneva 3086m NW side

A fine mountain shaped as a wide leaf when seen from East or West; to the North an high cragged wall ending with a small rocky beak locally named "Lo Cordagnë" (The Shoemaker), followed by two more twing towers before the main summit. This mountain is nothing but the sequel to NE of the edge of Monte Emilius that comes down to the Colle Blantsette (3137m), the omonymous summit and the Col Pekoz (3042m). Further more the ridge, changing its course to NW goes to thr Mont Père Laurent (2625m).

Bella montagna a forma di larga foglia se vista sia da est che da ovest; a nord presenta un'alta parete dirupata culminante in un piccolo becco roccioso chiamato in loco "Lo Cordagnë" (Il Calzolaio), che seguito da altri due torrioni gemelli precedente la vera vetta. La montagna altri non è che la continuazione a NE dello spigolo del Monte Emilius che formano in successione il Colle Blantsette (3137 m.), l'omonima punta ed il Col Pekoz (3042 m.). Oltre la cresta cambiando direzione a NW va a formare il Mont Père Laurent (2625 m.).

Getting There

BY CAR:

From Torino, Milano, etc: motorway A5. Exit at Aosta Est.
From Switzerland: through the Grand Saint Bernard Tunnel or the namesake Pass.
From France: through Mont Blanc Tunnel or Petit Saint Bernard Pass. It isn't necessary to take motorway A5: you can drive on SS.26, in the direction of Aosta.

Route

From the Grand Brissogne (894m), go along the road till the Alpe di Gremonenche (1000m). From here along the dirt road up to l'Arp (1310m) then, along a path that, bordering the stream (Des Laures), leads to La Vieille (1623m) and to Le Tramail (1951m) (good shelter when weather is bad). Crossing some small bridges up to the altitude of 2200m, (starting from this point a steep but faster path goes, at right (W), toward the slopes of Becca di Seneva). Better go on toward E forwarding the Becca di Salè (Black Fountains) and climb the last 400 meters on wide slopes till the top of the terraces (2600m) (here a small chapel dedicated to Charrey e Norat brothers dead in 1929 on the East wall of Monte Emilius). A short descent leads to the Refuge Ernesto Menabreaz (2542m, private), the refuge has an open free part (with covers) usable as winter room (8 places), on the eastern bank of Lago Inferiore di Laures.

From Rifugio Ernesto Menabreaz (2546m) turn round, to NW, the Lago Inferiore di Laures and cross the strain using a small bridge; follow the path to Col Pekoz (3042m), in its last part low marked along a narrow channel with small snowfields, to get it.
From the pass climb a first prominence with a cairn (can ba passed to the East side), then two small humps to get a small notch and the ridge.
Along it on the knife edge (I° e II°) or a little below you easily get the summit (cairn): Exposure is high on both sides (2h30' from the refuge).

Dal Rifugio Ernesto Menabreaz (2546 m.) contornare il Lago Inferiore di Laures a NW e superare l'emissario su di una passerella; risalire il sentiero per il Col Pekoz (3042 m.), che nel finale percorre un canalino su tracce discontinue o piccoli nevati, e raggiugerlo. Dal Colle superare un primo risalto con ometto (aggirabile ad est), superare due piccole gibbosità raggiungendo un piccolo intaglio e da questi sul filo di cresta (I° e II°) o appena sotto raggiugere abbastanza facilmente la vetta (ometto). Esposto ad est, molto esposto ad ovest (2h30' dal rifugio).
