OverviewMaiden Peak is a small peak readily accessible from the trail from Obstruction Point to Deer Park in Olympic National Park. The summit itself is a short scramble north of the trail, about a mile east of Elk Mtn.. Like Elk Mtn, it has spectacular views of the Olympic interior, and is easily reached from the trailhead in an hour or so.
Maiden Peak as seen from nearby Elk Mountain Getting ThereThe peak is best reached from the Obstruction Point trailhead, which is only accessible via a precipitous 8 mile gravel road that branches off of the Hurricane Ridge road. See the Obstruction Point page for more info on how to get there.
The peak itself is about 2.5 mile from the trailhead. One simply needs to follow the signs that point towards Deer Park. You will pass Elk Mountain first, and Maiden Peak will be just beyond that on the left [North] side of the trail. From the trail, it is a short scramble up to the top.
Alternately, the peak could be reached from the Deer Park area, but would require more of a hike to reach it. [Roughly 4.5 miles in this case]
The trails in the area are all above treeline. Red TapeEntrance fees to Olympic National Park run you $15 for a week or $30 for a year. Images
