OverviewThe Piz Tumpiv 3101m is a mountain in Switzerland, in the Swiss-canton Grisons (Graubünden) and in the region Surselva. He belongs to the Glarus Alps. The mountain is near the villages of Breil (Brigels) and Schlans.
Piz Tumpiv is in the Frisal valley (Val Frisal), which is famous for many beautiful ski tours in Spring time. Further valleys in the proximity of the Piz Tumpi, are in the southeast the Dadens valley (Val Dadens) and in the southwest the Punteglias valley (Val Punteglias). The Piz Tumpiv has two peaks, a north summit 3101m and south summit 3058m . You go to the northern summit, the main summit. Piz Tumpiv is a popular mountain in summer as well as in spring with Ski.In the north from Piz Tumpiv is the famous Bifertenstock 3419m.
Route & DifficultyThe common route in summertime is:
Start in the village Breil (Brigels) 1313m, go to alp "Tschegn Dadens Sut 1724m", forward into the Dadens valley (Val Dadens) and over the east side, the east flank to the summit of Piz Tumpiv 3101m.
Difficulty: WS (PD) or T6
Ski route:
The same as above. The terrain is steep, with ski is essential to have a minimal avalanche risk.
