Overview

Ptarmigan Peak is in the Mosquito Range in Colorado a little over 7.5 miles south of the 14er Mount Sherman. Ptarmigan Peak is best climbed from Weston Pass but may also be reached from the north via Horseshoe Mountain.

Getting There

Take Hwy 285 south from Fairplay and go west on the Weston Pass Road to the summit of Weston Pass. Park at the pass and climb the slope to the northeast to the saddle between Ptarmigan Peak and Weston Peak. Continue north from the saddle to the summit.

Camping

Camp at the Weston Pass campground about 4.5 miles southeast of Weston Pass on the Weston Pass road.
