OverviewZeleniske Spice is one of the long Planjava ridges. It starts at Srebrno sedlo/Silver saddle (2115m) and drops soutwestwards to Kamniska Bistrica (source and trailhead).
The valley to its W is Repov Kot, the Sedelscek valley (gorge, gully, waterfalls and holes).
The valley to its E is Kamniska Bela.
Zeleniske Spice NW walls in winter |
The ridge route (UIAA II, perfect rock quality) is very attractive, and famous throughout Slovenia.
Stanicev Vrh (1805m), often a start to the S-N ridge traverse, is one of the aretes (peaks) which also uniquely attracts visitors, as well as Kamniski Dedec (1583m) does.
The Stanicev Vrh SE slopes above the Kamniska Bela valley may also attract cave visitors (Kamniska jama; Kovacnica tunnel).
The S face of Stanicev Vrh offers quite a number of short multipitch bolted routes.
The entire NW walls are full of shorter Alpine limestone trad climbs (mostly easy to intermediate). Winter gully climbing (and some ice climbing) is also a highlight.

Getting a closer look at the Zeleniske Spice crest:
1.
This first option is also the one we choose if we decide to climb in the Zeleniske Spice.
At the Kamniska Bistrica Trailhead (alt 600m, end of the asfalted road), one is at the foot of the Zeleniske Spice which raise above the Kamniska Bistrica source.
There are signposts indicating to Kamnisko sedlo (the Kamnik saddle and hut).
Along the route to Kamnisko sedlo (at first up steep forest), the NW side of Zeleniske spice starts appearing after passing the lower cargo cable car station.
We further take the Repov Kot route (unmarked, a scramble in the upper part), and the Zeleniske Spice NW faces will continuously accompany us on the opposite bank of the Sedelscek stream (gorge, gully). Srebrno sedlo/Silver saddle (2115m) marks the end of the Repov Kot route, and the highest peak of the Zeleniske Spice ridge (2127m) is then very close, to our right.
2.
One km down the road from the Kamniska Bistrica trailhead hut, a bridge crosses Kamniska Bela. Kamniska Bela is the first left bank affluent to Kamniska Bistrica (parking space).
The marked and secured path towards Presedlaj and Ojstrica (signposts) follows at first the right bank of the Kamniska Bela, then crosses it and continues on its left bank until the picturesque Orglice waterfall.
The Zeleniske Spice SE view opens to the left when going upstream.
If we then take the Sraj Pesek route towards the Korosica hut, the Zeleniske Spice SE faces will accompany us on the opposite valley bank.
3.
Along the route from the Korosica hut to Planjava, we pass on Srebrno sedlo/Silver saddle (2115m). The saddle offers a plunging view of the Zeleniske spice NW aspect, and the highest peak of the Zeleniske Spice ridge (2127m) is then very close, southwestwards.
