Overview  The last and highest summit on the mountain.
Glacier View Mountain stands at 6,097 feet and at the east side of the Whitefish Range bordering Glacier National Park. This mountain could also be named False Summit Mountain. There are over five false summits on this mountain which gets annoying. The mountain is named Glacier View because you can view into Glacier National Park and because of the great views. The Moose Fire of 2001 burned a lot of Glacier View Mountain, but the Robert Fire was allowed to burn along edges of the Moose fire in some places. The 2003 Robert Fire started 8 miles North of Columbia Falls and was caused by a campfire. It first started July 23rd at 4:45pm and burned 57,570 acres. It only burned down three structures. Click on this link to find out more about the fire.Getting ThereDrive 11.6 miles up the Camas Road from the Apgar Village located in Glacier National Park or up The North Fork Road for 22 miles from Columbia Falls. When you arrive at the intersection of North Fork Road and the Camas Road park at the immediate pull off. The trailhead is visible from there.

Views of Glacier National Park are incredible. Four of the six 10,000 footers are visible... Mount Cleveland, Kintla, Jackson, and Stimson. The Vulture Peaks and Longfellow Peak are also visible. Even Mt. Saint Nicholas is visible, but is very far away.

Glacier View Mountain is a short, but difficult mountain to hike. In a couple areas there is class 2. As said before there are over five false summits on the mountain so just when you think you're there you're not. The trail switches back and forth between rocks and dirt. There are many more rocks though, the trail is very steep and going down holds areas of danger.
It isn't a good warm up mountain due to the steepness. The trail is a round trip of 6.2 miles and has an approximate elevation gain of 2,617 feet.
