Overview

Cyclops Rock, viewed from the Hidden Valley campground, has a cave in the top center. This cave distinctively gives the rock the look of a cyclops, hence the name. The classic route The Eye climbs the gully in the middle of the formation to the cave.

The Eye

The Eye, a 5.3 classic, is a fun climb for the beginning leader. Climb the deep gully in the center of the west side of the formation to the cave. From Hidden Valley campground, you can't miss it. Bypass the overhangs by climbing the jugs on the face of the right side of the gully. There is thrilling exposure for new climbers. A #4 Camalot, and some other big cams, fit nicely in the roof of the cave for an anchor.
