Hasn't voted | This is how I explained it to Sasa:
How to do an interactive map? It's not complicated. First, how to do a map at all? I take an original map (with all details), put it in Power Point and there draw over it objects, like: ridges, summits, trails, roads, towns, all text etc. Drawing contours in Power Point is simple, the only problem I have is whether to do shading or not. Usually I draw all small details and group them, so that it's easier to layer them (back-front). To do shading is fast, but can be misleading. What does a certain gray area mean? The area on mountain with altitude higher than certain value? The area which is rocky, as opposing to grass or more flat terrain? When I have the map, I finally take the view (75%, 88%, ...) which gives me exactly 640 pixels. With the program SnagIt (shareware) I simple take that part of the screen and paste it in Photo Paint to make a .jpg file (640 pix wide and - sharp!). | | Posted Nov 14, 2004 3:50 pm |
