Not a cactus but...... [ Sizes: Orig | Small | Thumb ]
Not a cactus but......
Not a cactus but is this April in the desert? This Joshua tree looks very foreign with a wintry coat in this early morning pic. This shot was taken on the way in on the 4WD road to the Hayford Peak TH, about 16 miles from the Desert Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.

Wow Dean! Came across this one I had not seen before. I actually thought it was a painting at first. Corey

This one is about 15 feet (5 meters) high and is probably considered medium in size.

I've been in the desert twice in April during snow storms and once in March. Also in November. I've come to expect cold, unsettled spring weather in the desert.

It is so wonderful to see snow or water in the desert!

I have to agree with you, if I were to live in a desert area like Las Vegas or Palm Springs, I'd grab my camera and head out hoping for more shots like this one.

Didn't it just snow in Red Rocks? We went to an xmas eve party & someone was telling me about snow at her house in Henderson.

It is possible. Redsplashman posted some pics of Gass Peak which is at the north end of the LV valley and it had snow down to the lowest level that he had seen it at. So most likely, it snowed in the Red Rocks area as well.

You and me both, that is such a neat combination, desert and snow. Thank you for your comments.
