Not a cactus but is this April in the desert? This Joshua tree looks very foreign with a wintry coat in this early morning pic. This shot was taken on the way in on the 4WD road to the Hayford Peak TH, about 16 miles from the Desert Wildlife Refuge Headquarters.

Voted 10/10 | I've been in the desert twice in April during snow storms and once in March. Also in November. I've come to expect cold, unsettled spring weather in the desert.

Hasn't voted | It is possible. Redsplashman posted some pics of Gass Peak which is at the north end of the LV valley and it had snow down to the lowest level that he had seen it at. So most likely, it snowed in the Red Rocks area as well. | | Posted Dec 26, 2006 10:08 pm |
