One of the two passes you...
One of the two passes you will required to make if you are traversing from Storm King to Mt. Silex. You will be cussing the entire way if you do not bring an ice axe and crampons. The climb up this snow slope will bring you to the saddle between Silex and Pt. 13,176 which is a subpeak of Peak 9. If you are not on snow, it is a loose and dangerous scree climb. Bring helmets. If you chose to try the snow slope without an ice axe or crampons, the penalty for failure will be a deposit directly into Lake Silex. You better be a damn fast swimmer if you want to make it to shore before you freeze to death. August 8, 2005. Copyright attm.
