Photo #3.

I'm backing off a bit shooting the last photo in the sequence. I gathered all the loose gear and chucked it into my tent. The wind was not as strong as I had expected, but enough to blow away some lighter gear (gloves and stuff sacks) which had been outside other tents. Remember; we're almost a km away from the bottom of the face.

One night a much larger avalanche hit. I thought the wind would rip my tent to pieces, but it stood strong.

Lolliif this was a huge one

Voted 10/10

and one can hardly tell on the photo, where it's tracks are, where it started

then there must have been a massive one,

it looks like there has been a big one, it's a hole in the snow halfway up, on the left side, with the snow cut off straight above

maybe that's not a hole after an avalanche?

I guess that is a large part of the old ice and snow, which has fallen off the face of the peak. That type of avalanches are very different from the one int he photo, as those are debris-filled, heavy, very noicy and unpredictable. The one in the photo is a swift, fast flowing powder snow avalanche.

Hi Corax,

thansk for posting all the G pictures. Good to see some big, but lesser known mountains here. I love this area and can't wait ti get back. This picture reminded me of the constant avalanches on closeby Chogolisa, well shot.

Thanks Harry!

Yes, there are a lot of HUGE avalanches in this area. Scary, but very fascinating.

Thanks!
It was amazing, thrilling, scary and beautiful at the same time.
The sight, the sound, the ground shaking and finally the cold ice crystals arriving.

I think the Millet tent is quite similar, but I have never seen it in reality. The tent I use on this photo is an Integral Desings. I like it a lot.
