The only way from Nippletop to Dix is to bushwhack. I tried to descend the northeast ridge of Nippletop (left) to the western slides on Dix (right). However, both of my compasses were off by 90 degrees on this ridge, and I abandoned the bushwhack. Compass readings were normal by the time I reached Dial.
