Northern Sierra Peaks Road Tour October 8, 2007Just as a lark, I chose to motor up U.S. 50 to Mormon-Emigrant Road. Crossing over to CA 88, I made several photo stops, and captured current images of the peaks. The fall colors were ongoing, and aspen makes a good photo shoot. I traveled over to Sorenson's Lodge, and saw good color, there. Then, I motored back to CA 89, went north over Luther Pass, and through the Tahoe "Y," and onto Taylor Creek USFS Visitor Center. This offers a short trail to view the colors, meadows, and the spawning Kokanee salmon. The time for this has peaked, and storms coming in the next few days may blow the leaves away, and put more new snow onto the ground.
I wished that I had made plans to climb a peak or two, but I had thought the snow of the last week would be too deep. But enjoy the photos, this won't be the case for long. The snow will be coming!
