Approach

From the east drive 14.8 miles west on S22 from State Highway 86 and park in the parking area along the road. There is a call box numbered S22-319 on the north side of the road.

Route Description

From the parking area, hike approximately 1.25 miles northeast toward the beginning of the ridge just west of the mouth of Palo Verde Canyon. Head up the hill (still heading northeast). Once you cross a shallow saddle you will head generally north up the ridge. Stay on or close to the ridge following the use trail. Once you get to a flat area at 3,520' you will head northeast following a use trail down to Palo Verde Canyon where you will cross at 3,240' . After you cross Palo Verde Canyon head east up a ridge following the use trail. You will bypass a bump on the ridge using the use trail to bet to the saddle at about 3,600 feet elevation. Once at the saddle just head north on the ridge to Rosa Point.

You will see several peaks in the distance as you head to Rosa Point. The right or east peak is Rosa Point.

Once you start up the ridge west of moutn of Palo Verde Canyon (approximately 1.25 miles from the parking area), you will be able to follow a use trail most of the way. The use trail is faint at times.

4,800+ feet total elevation gain.
12 miles round trip
Total Trip Time - 8 to 11 hours (took me 9.5 hours)

Essential Gear

No techical gear required. Bring plenty of water. Hiking poles help on the way down because there are lots of loose little rocks that are like marbles under your feet in the steep sections.

Miscellaneous Info

If you have information about this route that doesn't pertain to any of the other sections, please add it here.
