Nice hike  Sucess!

Left parking lot at 8:30 am and summited AE 5 hours later. Tried to trail run where possible. Partly cloudy weather all day, some very light rain but not for long. Nice hike! Almost 1800m cumulative elevation gain (all the little ups and downs on the way to Circlet Lake, plus the big headwall and summit ramp). Really cool geology - an awesome rock rib you can hike up after the Edward/Frink junction. Volcanic rock closer to the summit. Cool!

Mt Albert Edward  Sucess!

Summited AE early on the 16th and then continued to Frink and Castlecrag. Made a loop of it and back to Ciclet lk for dinner but not before a dip in Moat Lk.

My son's First Island Peak over 6000ft.  Sucess!

My son Jonah was 7 years old. I thought I would take him up Albert Edward, but hauling all that gear into Circlet Lake was a pain the first time, so we did Albert Edward as a day hike, 11 hours return. 3 hours to circlet, 1 hour to Jutland cairn, 2 hours to the summit, 5 hours return. Seems like a miracle now, I'm getting slower, and he stops on the side of the trail to wait for me! (he's 16 now). Tried a repeat this spring in the snow but didn't make it, too much snow. One of my favorite hikes, you get straight into the alpine and there are great views on almost the entire trail. Only the portion around Helen Mackenzie can be a bit ugly when it's wet - muddy and slippery.

Beautiful day on the summit  Sucess!

It was a beautiful day to make the summit and meet up with two parties that had stayed the night at the top! Excellent views all around made for an awesome hike up.

Great day!  Sucess!

Did with Jake. Left Circlet Lake camp a little late (11.30ish) due to getting in late the night before. Rough trail took longer to negotiate; summited at 15.15. Incredible views, esp. of the Waddington Range- wow! More immediate surroundings, i.e. Strathcona, beautiful too. Left the summit 16.14, after a great, leisurely time on top. Bangin' bagel & nice beer. Back at camp 18.49, left 19.30, after a quick dip & gathering stuff. Way out way easier than way in, getting the rougher & muddier trail out of the way before dark. Back at truck 22.20. Great, long day, & great to do with Jake!

Hot Summer Climb  Sucess!

Great climb. The steepest part was getting up the ridge above Circlet Lake. Pretty hot day for our climb, around 85 F, we all got sunburns! Great view though, saw some eagles above moat lake while climbing up and heard a big avalanche coming off of the Comox Glacier while we were up there.

pushed too hard  Sucess!

Lots of snow made trail finding difficult, I found some lost hikers at Circlet lake and showed them the way to the summit. I pushed really hard and ignored my body telling me to slow down. The weather blew in and the summit was clouded in just as we left. My knees and hips hurt so bad from the push up that I could barely walk back. Took me even longer to return to the parking lot. 12h round trip.

On snowshoes  Sucess!

Climbed it on snowshoes with Kent and Anita (while Anne stayed back at basecamp nursing blisters and enjoying the sun and views). We were certainly jealous of the skiers as we plodded down the hill on snow shoes. But Kent enlighted us to the joy of butt sliding down the mountain! Fantastic hike with spectacular views!

Busy Spot  Sucess!

We hiked in and stayed at Circlet lake. Rained like heck just before we got to the campsite. In the morning things looked nice and bright so off we went. Clouds moved in and out for most of the day. Met lots of people. Took hundreds of photos! That is why it takes me longer to hike! Wonderful views between clouds!

On skis  Sucess!

Skied up and down as part of Castlecrags circuit. A bit rocky for skiing down (2 core shots in our group). Beautiful weather. Nice skiing objective.

Great hill  Sucess!

Climbed AE with my uncle one lovely July day. Crazy amounts of snow around - all the lakes were still completely covered. Could have skied both up and down there was so much snow around. On the way out I stayed in a little cabin which was almost completely covered in snow. Took my snowblades and bladed down which was cool!

Many summits over the years  Sucess!

Sometimes alone, sometimes not. Sometimes from cars, sometimes from camp. Never had a bad trip to Mt AE. A wonderful mountain with many happy memories.
