Climb a different volcano  Sucess!

Absolute money-grab. 1 guide, 2 trainee rangers & 4 soldiers with guns for a group of over 40people of vastly differing fitness levels. The park service needs to do a far better job on this hike, for $75 we expected a lot, lot more. Waay too much paperwork & waiting around at the start, then spent ages waiting for other groups to get their gear together. Eventually ended up hiking with 4other fast hikers & 2soldiers with guns, no "guide". Also, they don't take you to the summit, only to the closest point on the crater rim, about 3,636m - I managed to sneak around to hit the top in the thick cloud, about 10-15mins from the crater rim point they take you. Save yourself $70+ & hike an extra 2km on a 4x4 road instead of hiring a 4wd - just take a moto-taxi (boda boda) or normal taxi to the Park HQ & then then to the turnoff just after the small village of Bisate. Can take a public bus back from Bisate.

or Visoke...either one  Sucess!

Fun hike to do the day before/ after gorillas. Saw a silverback from a non-habituated group on the descent.

Mt Bisoke  Sucess!

Great hike, not much visibility due to lots of mist.
