Kaasoonak

Loved your pictures, thanks,

The double summits just below the gondola are Kaasoonak 3691 m & Shidar Kesh 3640 m. These peaks sit on the south side of the 3100 m Yoonezaa Pass which goes from Fasham to the Laar Plain. Fortunately the area is environmentally protected and entering it needs a permit.

To the right of Damavand you see what looks like a tiny bump. This bump is actually the 3820 m Asbi Kaalak (Aasemaan Kooh) Peak. This is a very impressive peak and when viewed from Laar Plain it looks like a giant. In this view, however, it is completely dwarfed by Damavand!

Thanks for your votes and comments.
As you see the north face of Kaasoonak is a vast area with nice slopes. Long time ago there was a plan to build a ski resort there, but apparently the project was canceled because of the environmental pollution it would cause.

Re: Kaasoonak

Wow,

Would have made a fantastic ski slope but I am glad for environmental reasons, it was not done. It is better to expand the Shemshak, Dizin & Tochal areas.
