Gordon, that's a beautiful shot! Looks like the spring weather was threatening.

What was climbing Abbot like in May?

Thanks, David. It started hailing 5 minutes after we reached the summit, near sunset time, but lower down the weather was no problem. Climbing up meant lots of kicking steps, and no loose rock on the standard route (snow was all the way up the couloir)! We had ice axes but the snow would have been too soft for crampons. Glissading down was quick and painless.

Thanks Gordon. A friend wants to climb Abbot, and after doing it once in August and dealing with all the loose rock, I haven't been very thrilled about doing it again. However, a May climb sounds pretty appealing!
