Mt. Lago as seen from my...

Mt. Lago as seen from my bench camp to the SSE on the morning of August 24, 2001 after snowshowers dashed the area with white. The trail to Shellrock Pass comes up just about where I camped. Even so, I never "saw" anyone while I was camped there for five nights. I did, however, hear people outside while I waited out a 36-hour rainstorm. That snowpatch did not serve me too well--too hard to scrape snow off of. The dirty puddle that formed next to it was not around for me when the weather cooled. The water was absorbed into a kind of permafrost. When it was there, a filter would have been handy.
