Once, I was coming up the west ridge really fast, when I got to one of the spots where your next step is at waist level, and there was a big fat rattlesnake right there, so close he could have bit my nose. Luckily he was nice and just slithered away before I could even react.
Hiked up south slope firebreak, then down to saddle between Strawberry. This is a cool chain of peaks, but I think I like Josephine the best. Almost stepped on a baby rattlesnake on the way down, tucked into a handhold!
