While hiking that day, several of us heard a loud roar that we later agreed was an avalanche.

That's the Nisqually Glacier feeding the
Nisqually River.

Those glaciers are "actively" moving. You
probably heard some rockfall associated with
the movement of the glacier.

Either that, or somebody in your group had
their Sony Walkman turned up too loud !!!

	Hasn't voted	Well, it could have been rockfall but it sounded like thunder or a sonic boom to several of us! Later some people ahead of us said they saw an avalanche on the face. Saw no Walkmans that day but did see teens going up the trails in flip-flops!

	Voted 10/10	Very true! That's a cool waterfall coming down into the Nisqually, and great capture of Tum Tum peak off to the far left. Something could have come down off the Nisqually or Kautz ice cliffs. Great pan !!!

	Hasn't voted	Thanks! Actually this was early afternoon. Early morning could have been cloudy and it takes at least a couple hours to get up that high. Mt. Rainier get clouded over all day about 30-60% of the time so I grabbed a sunny day and hiked up!
