Mummy's Nose, Forehead and Chin

Mummy's Nose, Forehead and Chin

This is a view of three of the subpeaks on Mummy Mountain from Lee Canyon Road. The gully that is used to ascend all these three peaks is in view as well. This is an off-trail class 3 route, which begins at Lee Canyon Summer Homes. There is no official trailhead. Spring Mountains, Nevada. August 2007.

Route

I think you can see the route we did on the Nose in 1957 ... we went up the band of trees that ends below the summit cliffs on the left skyline, then picked our way up through the rocks on NNW ridge. It was a long time ago, but that's what I recall.
Nice picture ... Thanks ... Peace, Jim

Re: Route

Sounds like fun. I'll bring a sign in book and put your name in it next time I go up there. You might have been a first ascender.
We were just there and the register didn't have any sign-in book.

Re: Route

Thanks, that would be great. We did the climb from the old Air Force radar site on Angels Peak in the Spring or early Summer of 1957.
And, thanks for the link to your pictures. That looks like fun, but pretty steep. You guys take very good pictures of your outings. Love your hat !!!
Peace, Jim

Re: Route

What a great little piece of history. I bet you were, in fact, the FA's on that feature. Good stuff.

Re: Route

Thanks ... we weren't even thinking such things in those days, we just wanted to see what the other side of the mountain looked like.
I wish I could remember the names of the two guys who were crazy enough to go with me, but, I'm afraid, time has taken it's toll on those memories.
Peace, Jim
