Muriel Peak

Muriel Peak

In Memory This image is dedicated to Peter Spoecker. It was taken just before a massive snow storm hit this area of the High Sierras. The ozone thick in the air from the lightning strikes, made for an impressive experience. Shortly after it passed and just prior to sunset I emerged and started looking around. Peter came up from below a rock formation. This started a short but memorable friendship. You see, Peter died several years back on a solo winter mountaineering trip into the High Sierras. It was unimaginable it ended that way. He was just to damn'd experienced. But tragically this is a recurring theme. An explorer, scientist, photographer, writer, musician and one of the best rock climbers and boulders I've ever seen. He was engaging in conversation that could go on for hours. A true eclectic. To a great spiritual being.
